To those unaware, the 1970’s was a horrible time to be a watch manufacturer. Quartz watches, in their affordability and accuracy, nearly destroyed all Haute brands that refused to innovate. Enter Gerald Genta, an innovator who wanted to reinvigorate the demand for watches through a modern lens. When he released the original Ref.5402ST Royal Oak in 1972, it set a new standard of originality, with many brands following suit and particularly developing sports watches.

Paying homage to the original “Jumbo” 5402ST, the 15202ST is a love-letter to Genta’s original design. With an ultrathin 39mm case and a simple but robust blue tapisserie dial, this is the most comfortable Royal Oak on wrist. The Calibre 2121 was designed with a base Jaeger Le-Coultre movement, and is only an impressie 3.1mm thick while still achieving 40 hours of power reserve.
