Patek Philippe, Geneva haute horlogerie
Founded in Geneva in 1839, Patek Philippe is one of the last great independent watch manufactures, owned by the Stern family since 1932. The house produces a limited number of watches each year, which partly explains the rarity of its most sought-after models and how well they hold their value on the secondary market.

Frequently asked questions about Patek Philippe
A Patek Philippe’s price depends on the collection, material and complication. Calatrava models and some Complications generally start in the tens of thousands of dollars at retail. On the secondary market, steel Nautilus and Aquanaut models often sell above retail, and Grand Complications can exceed several hundred thousand dollars. Condition, rarity and box and papers also affect the final price.
New Patek Philippe watches are sold through official retailers, listed on the brand’s website, where sought-after models like the Nautilus and Aquanaut usually involve a waitlist. You can also buy from an independent dealer like Honos Watches in Montreal, which offers new and pre-owned pieces available right away, each one authenticated by experts, plus a brokerage service for specific references.
At official retailers, steel Nautilus and Aquanaut models are rarely available to a new client and often require a purchase history. Some Calatrava or Complications models may be easier to find. On the secondary market, you can buy the watch you see immediately. Whichever route you choose, make sure the watch is authenticated before you pay.
Rolex is known for robust, versatile sports watches produced in larger numbers. Patek Philippe sits a step higher in haute horlogerie, with more elaborate finishing, more complex complications and much more limited production. Neither is better in absolute terms: the right choice depends on your use, style and budget, and many collectors own a watch from each house.
Patek Philippe is a Swiss watchmaker founded in Geneva in 1839. The company has been owned by the Stern family since 1932 and still designs, manufactures and finishes its movements in Switzerland. Its watches carry the Patek Philippe Seal, the house’s own quality standard covering precision, reliability and the finishing of every component.
What our clients say
I bought my first Rolex Submariner from François and the experience was flawless. He took the time to compare the Submariner Date with the No Date, showed me the original papers and the box, and the price was fair against the market. I’d recommend him to anyone looking for an authentic luxury watch in Montreal.
What won me over was how transparent François is about authentication. He walked me through how he checks the movement and the serial number on my Tudor Black Bay. You can tell he’s genuinely passionate about watchmaking.
I sold my Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch and François made me a clear offer in under 24 hours, well above what I was being offered elsewhere. No pressure, fast payment. If you want to sell a luxury watch with confidence, this is the place.
